Once again, Mr. Marckel was at the forefront of the line. But today, he didn’t have to order us to be quiet as usual, for everyone was silent, replaying the events from today in their heads. Most eyes were blankly staring at his forearm, which was covered in tattoos. Being the foremost staff member, Mr. Childers took one look at this, and on his face appeared a strange look of surprise and anger. After his expression went back to normal, he gave a highly unusual forecast. “Tomorrow, there will be several hours of PAIN for the teacher with tattoos,” Mr. Childers said. “As with all other teachers with tattoos on themselves. Meet me in the basement tomorrow at 9:40 AM, after all of the students have gone to their elective classes.” Every single student turned to gape at Mr. Marckel, all 27 pairs of eyes in his 6th period class on him. Mr. Marckel’s face had gone a ghastly white, and he looked like he was about to be sick. Of course, why wouldn’t he look that way? Every gossiping student knew that located in the basement, was a torture chamber. Sarah said, “You probably should have read the foreword in the dress code handbook before you got your tattoos. It states that no tattoos are allowed, and if found, you will be severely punished.” Her voice died at the end of her last word, for everyone had turned to look at her, giving her a clear ‘not helping!’ look. She frowned, and whispered a meek, “Oops…,” and sank down in her chair. Will raised his hand, unsure whether or not to ask his question. Mr. Marckel looked him straight in the eyes, a clear indication that Will had permission to speak. Will gulped, and went on with his question, stammering because of the ghastly look in Mr. Marckel’s face. “A-a-a-are you g-g-gonna b-be okay, Mr. M-marckel?” Mr. Marckel shook his head slightly and shrugged helplessly. None of the students had any idea how to save Mr. Marckel from this known torture. By tomorrow, the word will have spread, and every student will try and get Mr. Marckel out of this mess. But until then, we are all praying that he will survive…
